Sophos is not updating
The advertising model in its current form is coming to an end, and we have to find other ways to continue operating this site.

If sophos support is dying at the church tech support level then we should at least be able to turn back on the microsoft virus scanner. The sophos updater runs like normal after a bootup but nothing actually updates (the "update successful" message will popup, but if you check the actual virus software files they will remain at the old January 10th detection file). I've been seeing this message quite regularly recently, on the Stake and Ward Clerk computers (Both in the same building, different rooms). Sophos however has updated on both, I'll have to check on our machines.
There's two possibilities: The church servers are not updating (Sophos is directed to a church site for the updates), or for some reason our version of Sophos is outdated and no longer supported.
Sophos Endpoint Security and Control General Information UITS is providing the latest version, Sophos Antivirus 10.
Microsoft blocked devices with affected Sophos software from receiving the update.
The next window will display the space Sophos Anti-Virus will take up on your Hard Disk. *NOTE: Sophos may take a few minutes to fully download after these steps, and won't begin working right away.
If you receive specific or repeating error messages after the download is completely finished, contact the ICT Help Desk at 646-1840, come by room 141 of the Computer Center, or e-mail us at [email protected]
Scroll down the list and click on Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows. When you open the file, a Security Warning will come up; it is ok to Run this file.
Now a User Account Control window will come up; click Yes. Sophos Anti-Virus will now be installed on your machine.
Once Sophos is installed, the icon will appear on your taskbar.
